Children are given the tasks of a. recreate the patterns in the 3 patterns given b. create patterns of their own ensuring that the words make sense e.g. under must be under at least one other brick. You could make this a competitive game where children work in pairs or groups and see how many different combinations they can come up with. Extend / differentiate using less blocks or using lego or other blocks for practical activities.
